CAD/CAM technology status of metal stamping die

In recent years, China's stamping die level has been greatly improved. Large stamping dies have been able to produce a single set of molds weighing up to more than 50 tons. The cover dies for the mid size cars can also be produced in China. The precision of the multi station progressive die with a precision of 1~2 m and about 200 million times life has been produced by many enterprises in China. The fine blanking die with a surface roughness of Ra or less than 1.5 m is achieved. The large size (300mm or more) fine blanking die and the medium plate precision die have reached a fairly high level in China.


Technical status of die CAD/CAM


The development of mould CAD/CAM technology in China has been over 20 years ago. The fine blanking die CAD/CAM system, which was jointly completed by the former Huazhong Institute of technology and Wuhan 733 plant in 1984, is the first self-developed die CAD/CAM system in China. The cold stamping die CAD/CAM system, which was completed by Huazhong Institute of technology and Beijing mould factory in 1986, is the first punching die CAD/CAM system developed by our country. The cold stamping die CAD/CAM system developed by Shanghai Jiao Tong University was also completed in the same year. Since 1990s, the CAD/CAM technology has been adopted in the mould design and manufacture of the domestic automobile industry. The national science and Technology Commission 863 plans to use the Dongfeng Motor Corporation as a demonstration plant for the CIMS application. The integrated system of automobile body and cover mold CAD/CAPP/CAM is identified by China University of science and technology as a technical support unit, and the integrated system of automobile body and cover mold is adopted at the beginning of 1996. During this period, the work station and the CAD/CAM software system were introduced into the die center of FAW and Chengfei automobile, and the practical application in the mold design and manufacture has achieved remarkable benefits. In 1997, FAW introduced CAE software for computer simulation of sheet metal forming process and began to be used in production.


Since twenty-first Century, CAD/CAM technology has been popularized. Now, the stamping die enterprises with certain production capacity basically have CAD/CAM technology. Some of the key enterprises also have CAE capabilities.


Mold CAD/CAM technology can significantly shorten the mold design and manufacturing cycle, reduce production costs, improve product quality, has become the consensus of people. In the period of "85" and "95", a large number of mould enterprises have been popularized and popularized by computer drawing technology, and the use rate of numerical control processing is becoming higher and higher, and a considerable number of CAD/CAM systems have been introduced in succession. Such as the UG of EDS in the United States, Pro/Engineer of American Parametric Technology, CADS5 of American CV company, DOCT5 of British DELCAM company, CRADE and space-E of Japanese HZS company, Israel Corp. And other special software. CAD/CAM technology is widely adopted in domestic automobile panel die manufacturing enterprises. The design of DL diagram and the design of die structure have been realized by 2D CAD. Most of the enterprises have gone to three dimensional transition, and the production of general layout has gradually replaced part drawing production. And the parametric design of mold has begun to go to a few mold manufacturers' technology development fields.


In the aspect of stamping and forming CAE software, in addition to the software introduced, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Jilin University, Hunan University, etc. have developed a high level of independent intellectual property software, and have been successfully applied in the production practice, and have produced good benefits.


The rapid prototyping (RP) and the traditional rapid economic mold are combined to quickly manufacture the mold for the large automobile panel, which solves the problems of low melting point alloy die casting die by sample casting, low precision of the mold, low precision of the workpiece and the difficulty of making sample parts, and the rapid mold manufacturing based on the 3D CAD model is realized. It ensures the precision of the parts, and provides the guarantee for the development of the new automobile industry and the rapid test system of the body. It marks the success of the RPM applied to the trial mold of the large cover parts of the car body.
